I can remember overhearing two women discussing
their standards and prerequisites for a potential husband. I must say that
these women were not half stepping. The list went from having good credit, to
being good with kids. They were looking for a man with good hair, gorgeous
eyes, cute butt, bulging muscles, great employment and a nice ride. The list
also included, that the man be sensitive, educated, funny, romantic, polite, discerning,
and able to protect from any harm or danger. As if the list wasn’t long enough;
one lady said, “He has to be accepted by my mama, liked by my best friend and
not be addicted to porn or drugs”. “He definitely has to love the Lord, be
faithful, responsible, and patient with my son”.
I agree with the women, regarding admiring a man
with all those qualities, but where do you find such a man? Not in a church
because those men are boring; not at work because those men are dogs. Not at a bar,
those men are predators; not at school because those men don’t have steady
employment yet. Not in prison; those men are felons; not at the morgue because
those men are dead. Not online because those men lie about who they are; not at
a car dealership because those men are not sincere.
Ladies, your search for a man with all those
qualities, could be a delusional desire, for a single man to posses every good
quality of the past men you have been intimate with. Or could it be that you
are expecting to meet a polished, finished product but all you seem to find are
“Works in progress?”
I’m not insinuating that women should lower their
standards but I am suggesting that you compare yourself to that standard. And if
your examination reveals that you are lacking in multiple areas of your standards,
it is possible that your potential mate could be also. So your only choices are
to roll up your sleeves and be part of the process to build those qualities in
your mate or watch life pass you by, while you sit on the bench of life, waiting for your delusional mate, who doesn't and never will exist. REAL TALK
