Through out my experience of being a follower of
Christ, I can’t help but notice the amount of insight displayed by people who
don’t believe in Jesus or Christianity. I have relatives and friends who will tell
you flat-out, that they don’t believe or walk with God. They don’t pray, go to
church, watch religious channels or have a cross hanging from the rear view
mirror. The strange thing about these Non-Believers is the amount of insight
they have regarding how a Christian is suppose to live. They know Christians aren’t
suppose to curse, get drunk, blaze weed, smoke cigarettes or shack-up and play
house with someone they’re not married to. They know that Christians aren’t supposed
to steal, have pride or talk negative about other people. Believe me; they let
me know every time they saw me not “Acting like a Christian”. I don’t think
that they understand that as a follower of Christ, I will sin but I shouldn’t
become comfortable with sinning.
At first, I would get upset, feeling like I blew
it. I often questioned my faith because I could not measure up to their
legalistic view of a relationship with Christ. I have come to realize that some
people will use your sin as a justification of choosing to not believe in God.
This phrase is common, “I ain’t going to church with all those hypocrites; I’m
not going to play with God like that. “ When I get my life together, I’ll go to
church”. What that means in laymen terms is, even though I know that I’m living
wrong and there is a God; my heart is more sincere than a person who attends
church, and prays but has obvious sins. Well here’s my stance; I would rather climb
and fall, scraping myself all over, while climbing to Heaven, than effortlessly,
sliding comfortably to Hell! Fear God, not Man
