Hows the Weather In Your Neck of the Woods?

Have you ever wondered how the weatherman or meteorologist can predict the weather? What type of training or schooling does that job require? I believe you or I can actually become a weatherman or meteorologist! Simply put, we can predict the forecast in our lives. How can you tell if you’re headed into a storm? How do you tell if there will be clear skies or an 80% chance of rain?

There were some fishermen who were on a boat with Jesus. These fishermen were not amateurs by a long shot. But while they were directing the boat, Jesus was sleeping by the stern. The stern is the back of the boat. I can hear the professional fishermen telling Jesus, “Teacher it’s been a long day, you have been preaching up a storm so you go ahead and get some rest. “We got this boat stuff; we’ve been doing this for a long time”. “Jesus we will let you know when we get to where we’re going, you just chill-lax”. Sounds like a logical request to send Jesus to the back of the boat, until the storm arrived!

Any area of our lives’ where Jesus takes a back seat, expect a storm! You can book it in your day planner. You see, Christ not only wants to be the Savior of your life But the Lord also. Lordship means that our entire life comes under the guidance and control of Christ. So instead of lobbying to legalize Sin (putting Christ in the back), maybe we could avoid some of our nation’s storms (abortion, AIDS, gang violence, police brutality, shady politicians and a horrific divorce rate), by letting God’s Law massage our stony hearts; which will allow us to make a positive choice-REPENT, and be saved from the coming judgment.

Read Mark 4:35-40
