Who are you going to be today?

As I jump on my soap box, I want to start by saying, “God is good”. I’m starting to understand why people act fake. By no means am I justifying fraudulent behavior or am I attempting to justify it BUT I DO UNDERSTAND. It’s easy to attack the character of secular rappers, who assist in perpetuating a negative image of blacks; while they live totally opposite of their lyrics. But before we send them through the ringer, let’s take a look at a place where individuals should be accepted. A place where we find fault in people, instead of finding faulty people, and bringing them to be healed. A place where verbally everyone claims, “I’m not perfect”, BUT in application, well that’s another story.  A place where we love because HE first loved us.  A place where we are supposed to love because we have been forgiven much. This place I speak of is the CHURCH. I will only speak from my own experience, so let me start. It’s like your accepted until you show your flaw; but once shown, your lucky if you’re treated as a 2nd class Christian. You are extremely blessed if you’re not verbally stoned by the same people who confirmed your calling. In this place, pastors will invite you to share the Gospel, BUT if they get a whiff of your humanity, not only do the invites stop but the fellowship also.
If this is the attitude of the CHURCH, which should be known for its love, why do we find it odd for people to act fake? Why do we get alarmed that people cover up? Or should people look forward to exposing themselves on Sunday, to be verbally lynched? This is me speaking; to me, the CHURCH is a living contradiction because it’s a place full of sick people; but it’s also a place where people can become whole and healed. I once fell victim to pretending that I had it all together BUT the mask got too heavy to wear; plus the people I was pretending for, were just as tore up as me. Bottom Line: STOP FEARING MAN, FEAR GOD!
PROVERBS 29:25 The fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected
