How do you explain why the world has little to no respect
for God? In order to answer that question, you will need to ask another
question; why do Christians have so little fear of the Lord? In an effort to
explain, we need to understand how some Christians come to their belief in God.
On any given Sunday, you will hear a lot of talk about, “The Lamb of God
(Jesus), who takes away the sins of the world”. BUT what you might not hear is
a conversation regarding, “The Lion (Jesus) of the tribe of Judah”.
Say for example, you and I were at the zoo and while
walking to view the ducks, a lamb comes over to you and licks your hand. How
would you respond to that? You probably would be thinking, “That was
cute”. Now, as we walk a little further
through the zoo, a lion approaches you. As the lion slowly moves your way, you
notice that you’re cornered and the lion starts to show his sharp teeth, as he
moves even closer. At this point, you’ve come to the conclusion that you will
be eaten by the lion, so you close your eyes and wait for your fate to be
sealed. But to your surprise, the lion comes over to you and licks your
hand. Out of the two animals licking
your hand, which lick would mean the most to you? Duh! It would be the lion
because he could have eaten you; which is an option the lamb didn’t have.
What am I trying to convey? Until you have encountered
the Lion of the tribe of Judah, you won’t have any appreciation for the Lamb
that takes away the sins of the world.
