Let me be the first person to say, “Women, you have us men
beat at multi-tasking”. For example, my wife can hold the baby, push the
vacuum, and talk on the phone at the same time. Me on the other hand, I have to
prioritize because it’s either vacuum, hold the baby or talk on the phone. But
sometimes I do believe that my sisters do take multi-tasking too far. I was
driving to work during rush hour and looked to my right, and a woman was
putting on her makeup while driving. She looked like she was pretty serious
about that makeup, but I have to wonder. Maybe she should have got up a little
earlier, in order to doll her face up, because she could have altered the
course of someone’s life, as well as hers, all in the name of Maybelline.
Before we start hammering our
women, could it be possible that some of us take our spiritual life the same
way? We have this mindset that we can live our early portion of our life as we
please and as the end draws near, we will get things right with God. Just like
the woman putting on her makeup while driving in rush hour traffic, we think
that we can live as we please, and just before we take our last breath, we will
say, “Ok God, forgive me and give me a first class ticket to Heaven”. Did the
woman putting on her makeup have time to get dolled up before she left home?
Yes, but she figured that she would get it done right before she got to work.
It would be a great strategy to do “Your thing” when you’re young and get
things right with God when you’re old BUT the question arises, “How do you tell
if you’re young or old?” Do you go by your age, feelings, health or looks in
order to tell if you’re young or old? For the sake of time, most people go by
their birth date BUT what we should go by is our DEATHDATE! You see; the 5yr
old girl, who was killed last week, was very old when she was 4yrs old. She was
a senior citizen when she was 3 yrs old.
This my friend is Gospel; YOU
and I are not guaranteed tomorrow! We
have TODAY, if tomorrow comes, great but eternity is for too long to be wrong. Hebrews
3:15- As it is said, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts
as in the rebellion. 2 Corinthians 6:2-For God says, “At just the right time, I
heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you”. Indeed, the “right time” is
now. Today is the day of salvation
