Since the weekend is quickly approaching, I thought this post would be appropriate. To my surprise, I came across an article that reported the following; 72% of black kids are raised in a Single-Parent Household! The number is at least 8-10% higher, since the article was written. This number is twice the amount of white kids that are raised in a Single Parent Household!! Across ALL RACES, the U.S. has more than 27.7 million children who currently reside in Single-Parent or No-Parent (Children in state custody, and those being raised by Non-Parent Guardians) homes!!
Mamas and Daddies, simply put, we need to do better. Some people are quick to throw out the phrase, “We have evolved as a society”. My question would be, “What are we evolving into?” How did black slave couples keep their family unit in place, through such cruel and hostile conditions? The master taking a slave’s wife and raping her, then sending her back pregnant, to her husband! These couples didn’t have counseling, therapist, internet or Face Book; but they did have the resilience to handle adversity far better than the “Society we have evolved into”.
By the time you read this, it will be Friday; which for many represents PARTYTIME at the CLUBS. So before you spot a potential mate for the night, and then blame it on the alcohol, this is how it could turn out. The female misses her period, takes a pregnancy test and it is +. She decides to keep the baby (No abortion). You decide to make it official and marry her due to the baby; but have no intention of staying with her. After 1-2 years, you have had enough and decide to call it quits. BAM! The Divorce, Alimony, Child Support, and visitations by appointment. What’s next? The struggle, the hatred, and the child left to pick sides. And if you’re lucky; another nigga just might stick around to do what you wouldn’t; RASISE YOUR SEED! Think About it.
