As I share a family portrait with you today, I’ll
probably bet what you see and what I see, could be 2 totally different images.
You might see a woman holding a toddler; nothing that would make you shout, “Hallelujah!”
What I see is my family’s future being held by the 4th generational patriarch;
which is my grandmother. As I took this photo, tears formed in my eyes; being
able to share in this moment. 4 generations are represented in this picture! Some
people have taken pictures with celebrities, and “Dimes” believing it will add
to their status; but those types of pictures have not and will not define
success or status for me. You see, to see my youngest daughter in a picture
with my grandmother means Father Time has been around. I believe that we can become so consumed with
what others consider to be success that we miss the moments that really count. So
what am I saying? Hug your sister, kiss your mama, joke with your brother,
listen to your son, encourage your daughter, call your grandmother, smile at
your father, be goofy with your wife, play ball with your nephew, and last but
not least; don’t take your family for granted
As Lee
Iacocca said, “No matter what you’ve done for yourself
or for humanity, if you can’t look back on having given love and attention to
your own family, what have you really accomplished?”
