Go Ahead and Have Your Baby!

FROM BEING PREGNANT
                     TO HAVING A BABY

Genesis 16:1-4
Sarai, Abram’s wife, was not able to have children. She owned an Egyptian slave named Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Why don’t you sleep with my slave? Maybe I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed with Sarai.
After Abram had lived in Canaan for ten years, Abram’s wife Sarai took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. He slept with Hagar, and she became pregnant. When Hagar realized that she was pregnant, she began to be disrespectful to Sarai, her owner.

I really enjoy this story for its richness and message that continues to echo to us, “STOP EXPECTING OTHER PEOPLE TO HAVE YOUR BABY!” God had made a promise to Abram that He would bless Abram with a child; even at Abram’s old age and this child would come through his wife Sarai. That was the good news; most promises usually give off a stench of hope, encouragement and motivation. The problem lies in the Time between what is promised and the promise being fulfilled. Ladies, wouldn’t it be nice if you could get pregnant on a Monday and have the baby on a Tuesday? The question emerges, “What am I suppose to do until I get the Promise?” Well you don’t want to do what Abram did; attempt to make it happen in a way that was not promised! Sarai also was under the delusion that some suffer from today; which is thinking someone else will have your baby. If you’re pregnant with a vision, it will be you that gives birth to it, or you that abort it. Other people might come along to encourage or discourage you, but make no mistake about it; your vision is Your Baby.  The closer you get to the actual birth of your baby; you may experience some discomfort that just signifies that you’re getting close. So just what do you do until you see your vision fulfilled?
ANSWER: And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up. Go ahead and have that baby!
