I believe that Ronald Reagan said it best, “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” This isn’t a post with the intention to bash Planned Parenthood or individuals who have had an abortion. This isn’t a post to incite gatherings outside of abortion clinics throughout America. To be frank, I don’t believe a person should be outside of abortion clinics with signs to stop abortions if they’re not willing to adopt the child that a mother wants to abort. That’s why I was so zealous to read about the Baby Moses Law in Texas. This law gives parents who believe they’re unable to care for a child, the right to safely drop off a 60 day old or younger infant at several sites throughout the state of Texas.
Would it be safe to say that some people have
been born into chaos but were able to overcome the odds, to become productive
members of our society and left contributions of substantial worth to us all? We
must remember that who’s unwanted by one is wanted by someone else. For a
pregnant mother to abort a child shows that she believes that she will be the
only influential person in that child’s life. The mother never realizes that it
takes more than an individual to raise a child. The Baby Moses Law says, “If you feel you made a mistake, if the child
will be unwanted, uncared for, neglected, mistreated or crippled by your state
of poverty; at least give the child a chance with someone who will be making an
intentional decision to become a parent. My mother was an alcoholic so she gave
my brother and me to another family member. At first I felt hatred and
abandoned by my mother but as I later reflected on her decision, I saw a mother
who came to the reality that she didn’t want children but wanted to give her
children a chance to live life.
